HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTICING YOUR CRAFT?
I took my first class about 10 years ago. Never looked back.
WHAT DREW YOU TO YOUR MEDIUM ORIGINALLY?
I’ve loved ceramics as long as I can remember! It probably started with my childhood obsession with Play-doh. As an adult, I love its unlimited potential. There is no end to the exploration.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU MOST & HOW IS THAT REFLECTED IN YOUR WORK?
Patterns and design intrigue me. I find them in architecture, art, nature or even in shadows cast from commonplace objects. If I pay attention, inspiration is easily found.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ITEM TO MAKE? WHY IS IT YOUR FAVORITE?
I love making vases or vessels of all kinds. The infinite possibilities of form and surface design are ever challenging. And I love that even the most sculptural shape can still be functional.
WHAT DO YOU WISH CUSTOMERS UNDERSTOOD BETTER ABOUT HANDMADE ITEMS?
Time. Time. Time. I’m still surprised at how many hours go into each piece from start to finish.
TELL US ABOUT A FAVORITE HOLIDAY TRADITION YOU OR YOUR FAMILY HAS
I have strong Swiss roots so we’ve had a traditional fondue every Christmas. We look forward to it all year.
WHAT'S THE MOST MEMORABLE GIFT YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED
A 10” aqua blue VW bug with movable steering wheel when I was about five years old. It was just like the Love Bug so it made all my dreams come true.
