One of our latest hard-to-find Philodendron additions, P. melanochrysum (sometimes called 'Black Gold Philodendron') is a stunning climbing Philodendron, with velvety leaves that range from deep green, to gold, to dark red, and almost look like they're glowing from inside.
Juvenile plants with smaller leaves, will grow larger over time if given something to climb.
Place in pot with drainage. Water when top 1/3 of soil has dried out. Avoid overwatering. Leaves will begin to curl inward when plant is ready for water. Yellowing leaves may indicate soil is overly moist.
Bright indirect light. Direct sun will scorch leaves.
This species is easy to propagate via cuttings (with nodes), rooted in water. If given something to climb, P. melanochrysum will take on a more mature, much larger, leaf form. Leaves turn darker green as they harden off.
