AKA 'Rattlesnake Calathea'
4" or 6" pot
Place in pot with drainage hole. Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy in warmer months. Water when top soil is dry to the touch in winter. Calatheas need added humidity- place in a humid room like a bathroom, or near a humidifier.
Bright to medium indirect light. Plants with white or light colored leaves need more light to help maintain color, but need to be protected from any direct sun.
Calatheas are part of the group of plants known as 'Prayer Plants' because their leaves fold upwards at night (or in low light) due to a process known as nyctinastic movement. Watch your plant towards the end of the day and you'll notice a shift from an open shape to a more upright shape! Calatheas can be very tricky to grow indoors and are very prone to spider mites. Ensuring proper humidity and balanced temps is essential.
