Commonly called the "Ric Rac Cactus", this Epiphyllum is always a fan favorite. With striking lobed leaves, this epiphyte makes a big statement, and forms huge yellow and white flowers as it matures. (Last photo of a more mature 8" plant, is for reference of future appearance).
Place in pot with drainage. Use a chunky well draining soil like a cactus mix with added chunks of bark. Water when soil is dry 1/2 way down in warm months, 3/4 of the way down in cooler months. Does best with some humidity. If leaves look puckered, soil may be too dry.
Bright indirect light, to partial sun indoors. Outdoors, full to partial shade-avoid direct sun other than a few hours of morning sun.
This epiphyte can make a good hanging plant, spilling over the sides as it grows. Aerial roots may appear along the stem, which epiphytes use to attach themselves to trees and other surfaces in the wild. Large blooms may appear in early spring. Some direct sun exposure will change leaf color to a reddish green, especially at the tips.
