Plant Know-How: Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue'

"Is that Pothos blue?!" is something you might be thinking when you first encounter Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue'; and yes, its leaves have a blue-green hue. A less common relative of other Epipremnum (commonly referred to as Pothos), 'Cebu Blue' is similar to its relatives in that it's not very difficult to care for, and if grown in the right conditions, its leaves will become significantly larger and develop fenestrations (holes and splits) as it matures. While it can be grown as a beautiful trailing plant like other Epipremnum, the way 'Cebu Blue' morphs over time when grown on a moss pole or plank is truly remarkable.

Whether you're growing it on a pole, or keeping it as a hanging/trailing plant, read on for our tips on how to care for Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue' and watch it thrive.

HOW TO CARE FOR EPIPREMNUM PINNATUM 'CEBU BLUE':

Light requirements for Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue': Like other types of Epipremnum, 'Cebu Blue' does best in very bright indirect light. It may tolerate medium indirect light, but growth will be slower, leaves will be smaller, and the plant will be less full overall as it sheds leaves in order to find a balance between how many leaves the available light can support. If you want to grow your 'Cebu Blue' on a pole and see it morph into mature form, you will need to grow it in bright indirect light.

Watering tips for Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue': Similar to other Epipremnum, 'Cebu Blue' will do best if you water when the top 1/3 of the soil is dry.  Leaves will begin to look slightly limp when ready for water. Though they often bounce back if allowed to go too dry, try to avoid letting the soil dry until the plant is totally limp as some of the roots and leaves may not recover from long periods of total dryness. If you need some help knowing when to water your plant a moisture meter is a helpful tool that can take out some of the guesswork!
