Plant Know-How: Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen'

You probably recognize this well loved house plant! This is Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen', commonly referred to as Pothos! This is a plant that's been in cultivation for a long time. Your parents or grandparents might even have had one. Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' is a cultivar of Epipremnum and gets its name from its bright white, variegated foliage. As a cultivar of Epipremnum, Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' does not exist in the wild. Its all green counterpart however is actually an invasive plant and a pest in certain areas, such as Hawaii and other tropical places where it's not native. This is one of our favorite plants for anyone looking for a beginner plant that's a little flashy! HOW TO CARE FOR EPIPREMNUM AUREUM 'SNOW QUEEN':

Light Requirements: Unlike its all green counterpart Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' needs bright indirect light to thrive. If grown in a lower light setting Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' may begin to revert and lose its striking variegated leaves.

Water Tips for Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen': Water your Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' when the soil has gone almost completely dry. This is a plant that will let you know when its thirsty. The leaves of your Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' will look visibly less perky and feel limp when it wants to be watered.

Is Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' Pet Safe? Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen' is not pet safe and can be toxic when consumed by pets. 

Did you know? Like many other Aroids, Epipremnum naturally climb up the trunks of trees. Also similarly to many other Aroids Epipremnum leaves will change as it climbs up and matures! Mature Epipremnum leaves have fenestrations, or splits, similar to those of Monstera!
