If you've been following us for a while you probably know that Hoya are one of our favorite genera, and Hoya pubicalyx is definitely one of our favorites of the commonly cultivated Hoya species. Endemic to the Philippines, Hoya pubicalyx has similar needs to many of its relatives. One of the most endearing quirks of Hoya pubicalyx, and something that distinguishes it from some of its family, is that it's long tendrils will climb anything within reach of the plant. Don't be surprised to find your Hoya pubicalyx has taken hold of the shelf its sitting on or wrapped itself around its neighbor. Hoya pubicalyx is an easy going plant suited for both expert plant parents and newbies alike. Wether you're a seasoned Hoya keeper or just starting out we've gathered our best tips to keep your Hoya pubicalyx lush and thriving!

CARE TIPS:

Light: Hoya pubicalyx, like most Hoya, does best in bright indirect light. It will survive in medium indirect light but it will not flower.

Water: Allow your Hoya pubicalyx to go almost completely dry in-between watering. Hoya pubicalyx is naturally epiphytic and will not do will sitting in constantly wet soil.

Did you know? There are a multitude of Hoya pubicalyx cultivars that produce a wide range of different colored flowers. Hoya pubicalyx 'Black Dragon', for instance, produces a dark, almost black, flower.
