This is Pacyhpodium lamerei, commonly called a Madagascar Palm, despite not being a palm at all. You may have guessed from its cactus-esque looks that this is a hot, arid loving plant. Pachypodium lamerei is a succulent native to Madagascar where it grows in arid, desert like conditions. As Pachypodium lamerei grows it develops a thick trunk where it stores water. This type of plant is known as a pachycaul. We love Pachypodium lamerei for its truly unusual looks and growth habit. CARE TIPS:
Light: Pachypodium lamerei requires direct sun to very bright indirect light to thrive. This is a plant that will do well outdoors or inside in a hot, sunny spot.
Water: Allow your Pachypodium lamerei to go completely dry in-between watering. In the hot, summer months Pachypodium lamerei will be active and growing and should be watered more frequently than in the winter months when it is dormant.
