Plant Know-How: Peperomia polybotrya

Peperomia polybotrya wide
You may have seen this Peperomia popping up in more plant stores recently. Peperomia polybotrya is a recent addition to the houseplant market and one we're certainly happy about! We love this Peperomia for it's bright green, raindrop shaped leaves and ease of care. Like many other Peperomia, Peperomia polybotrya is naturally epiphytic meaning it will do well in your home grown in a well draining soil mix. Peperomia polybotrya has thick stems and succulent-like leaves, similar to the more common Peperomia obtusifolia. Like Peperomia obtusifolia, Peperomia polybotrya is an easygoing plant well suited for beginner plant parents. Read on to learn how to care for this unique plant!

CARE TIPS:

Light: Peperomia polybotrya does well in bright to medium indirect light. It may grow in lower light settings but plants grown in these conditions will become leggy and may topple over with time.

Water: Because of their succulent-like leaves Peperomia polybotrya should be allowed to go almost completely dry before watering. The leaves will feel softer and less stiff when your plant is thirsty.

Did you know? Peperomia polybotrya, like other members of the family, can be propagated in a variety of ways. They can be propagated from stem cuttings, leaf cuttings, or even with just a part of the leaf! Try it out with your own Peperomia polybotrya!

Want to bring home one of these succulent cuties? We have Peperomia polybotrya available! We are open for in store shopping so you can come and pick out your perfect plant!
