COVID-19 Update
Hello to all of our plant friends, near and far,
In light of this ever-evolving situation with COVID-19, we have made the incredibly heart-breaking decision to close our LA shop for the next two weeks, effective Monday, March 16th.
Though our team is currently well, we want to be part of the effort to #FlattenTheCurve, and put the health and safety of both our team, our customers, and the community around us first. We will be monitoring the situation closely, and following the guidelines of the CDC, the State of California, and the City of LA, to decide when we can safely reopen. During this time we have temporarily laid-off some of our staff so they can collect unemployment benefits, but will be ensuring everyone on our team is taken care of one way or another.
The earliest the shop may open again is Saturday, March 28th, but the closure may be in effect longer.
HOWEVER, this does not mean you can't get your plant and plant stuff fix! We know that now, more than ever, plants are providing us all with joy, peace, comfort, maybe a needed distraction, and a connection to the natural world that we all need as we navigate a difficult time. In addition to our ONLINE SHOP, which is always open and includes most of the plant stuff you'd find in our brick & mortar shop, we will also be offering the following options to our local customers starting Tuesday, March 17th:
- Private shopping sessions by appointment. If you'd like to come and shop by yourself, we're happy to accommodate you. Just head over to our booking page, and select an available 30 minute window. Need more than 30 minutes? No problem- just leave a note for us letting us know how much time you think you'll need!
- Curbside pick-up or delivery. If you'd like to place your order online, but pick up in person, simply use code PICKUP to skip the shipping cost and follow the instructions in your order confirmation for pick-up!
- Plant pick-up. We aren't quite ready to start shipping plants yet (coming soon though!), but you can now shop plants for pick-up from our online store! Order confirmations will have pick-up details.
- Special orders. If you are looking for a particular plant, that is something currently available to us, we are happy to take special orders in this time. Please complete this quick Google form to give us some details, and we'll be in touch by email! All special orders will require a deposit.
We'll also be adding a few new services and some fun plant-focused activities to help keep you sane during this crazy time. At least our plants will probably come though this challenging season a bit happier and healthier, right? With their help- I think we can too!
On a more personal note- I want to thank everyone who has shown us so much support in the last few days. The timing of this whole situation could not have come at a worse time for Folia- the last few months have already been very challenging for us financially and just when it felt like things were starting to grow again, this hits. Though I know sometimes we can look like a big operation, we're really a super small business and like so many small businesses, we walk a very thin line between success and failure every month. Your support, whether through visits to the shop, online orders, or even encouragement on social media, truly means the world to us. Your purchases not only keep our lights on, they also support our hardworking staff, and enable us to support the other small businesses whose products we carry. I know these days are going to be a challenge for us all, and it overwhelms me to know we have a community of plant friends rooting for us, and each other, even now. Everyone here at Folia appreciates you, we're thinking of you, and we hope you'll let us know if there's anything we can help you with. We're all in this together.
